About This Publication
Technology should exist to serve humanity. But in our rush to innovate, we often prioritize technical capability or business potential over human impact, building systems without fully understanding their real-world implications.
I'm building and experimenting with practical ways to ensure AI actually enhances human potential and cognitive capabilities, rather than diminishing it. This means developing systems and protocols that adapt technology to human needs, preserving crucial decision quality, problem solving, creativity and critical thinking capabilities.
On this publication, you'll find documentation of my process in building and applying these human-centered AI approaches. This isn't just abstract thinking; I share:
Practical protocols and frameworks for implementing AI while preserving human judgment.
Models for creating tangible value in the AI economy, particularly for technical organizations.
Lessons learned from applying these ideas through real or simulated projects and experiments, showing what works and what doesn't in practice.
Actionable guidance on designing work and processes to create synergistic human-AI teams.
Who is Yarmo Covich?
Yarmo Covich is my professional identity—a phonetic simplification of my last name Jarmolkowicz (yar-mol-ko-vich). It represents my aspiration to be recognized as an unconventional deep thinker and creative strategist who guides leaders through complex change.
Choosing this identity is integral to my ongoing journey of embracing authenticity and unlearning professional posturing. I created the name and this public practice specifically to help me overcome the fear of judgment and share my genuine process—including challenges, lessons learned, and the messy reality of building and applying ideas. As I've discovered, choosing vulnerability builds stronger connections and trust than professional posturing. This is my commitment to showing my authentic self through this publication.
My Background
My approach is grounded in over 20 years of building and applying technology across diverse fields of software engineering, startups, and consulting. I am a graduate of Singularity University at NASA Ames Research Park where we worked on leveraging exponential technology and entrepreneurial tools to solve humanity's grand challenges. I gave a talk at TEDxKrakow on how we can use business as a force for good.
For seven years I ran the digital health startup Harimata, where we developed ML-based tools for early screening and therapy of developmental disorders in children. In total, I've spent over 10 years in digital health looking for ways to improve human health through technology. I've dedicated my professional life to using technology for our collective good.
